Slovar slovenskega knjižnega jezika 16. stoletja 2025
The explanatory historical Dictionary of the 16th-Century Slovenian Literary Language 2025' comprises nearly 500 headwords. Nearly two-thirds of the entries begin with the letter G, approximately 35% with the letter H, and a smaller number of new entries cover other letters (predominantly F). The volume treats several extensive word families, such as falš 'false', far 'priest', ganiti 'move', glas 'voice', gnus 'disgust', goljuf 'cheater', hinavec 'hypocrite' in hudoben 'wicked'. A total of 76 verbal calques featuring the adverbial component gori are also included. The lexicographic descriptions encompass Slovenian material from all printed works by Protestant authors published between 1550 and 1603, excluding contemporaneous (manuscript) works by other authors. A comprehensive lexicographic presentation across various linguistic levels includes data on parts of speech, frequency, inflectional morphology, and accentual reconstruction. Furthermore, it provides hierarchically structured semantic descriptions supplemented by modern equivalents (intralingual translation), with particular emphasis on phraseological units and multi-word terms. Lexicographic data are supported by illustrative examples, while loanwords include an informative etymological clarification. The structure of the dictionary entries and supplementary information (source abbreviations, bibliography) are detailed in the introductory text, which also incorporates several new principles formulated in response to specific issues encountered during the analysis of the corpus for the selected headwords.
