The Institute of Ethnomusicology is active in the documentation and analysis of folk musical, song, and dance practices and the context in which they emerged. It links the folkloric tradition with contemporary studies of cultural transformation. It is also engaged in the creation and maintenance of a unique archive of collected material related to this cultural heritage. The Institute of Ethnomusicology publishes Traditiones (with Institute of Slovenian Ethnology).
