Slovenski Nemci. Diaspora, identitete in medskupnostni odnosi

The monograph ('Slovenian Germans. Diaspora, Identities and Inter-Community Relations') examines a neglected segment of Slovenian emigration and raises the question of how we understand this political category today – i.e. who is included in it and who is excluded from it. This reflection draws on the life stories of Slovenian Germans in the diaspora, through which it illustrates the complexity of identity processes within emigrant communities and the transgenerational transfer of negative historical experiences that continue to shape inter-community relations to this day. It examines relations between Germans and Slovenians in Slovenia from a multifaceted perspective – as part of broader European and global social processes. To mark the eightieth anniversary of the end of the Second World War, this monograph provides an opportunity to reflect on the long-term consequences of the war and on the possibilities for dialogue between communities marked by past conflicts.
