Saggi scelti sulla storia, sulla lingua e sulla società slovena al confine italo-sloveno
The book titled Saggi scelti sulla storia, sulla lingua e sulla società slovena al confine italo-sloveno (Selected Essays on Slovenian History, Language, and Society at the Italian-Slovenian Border) presents nine scholarly contributions from researchers at the ZRC SAZU Research Station
in Nova Gorica. The essays focus on various aspects of the lives of Slovenians living on the western national border and their interactions with their Romance-speaking neighbors. The publication of the book was motivated by the realization that Italian researchers often do not reference Slovenian studies due to a lack of knowledge of the Slovenian language. However, these studies are crucial—if not essential—for understanding certain issues related to language contact. The titles, abstracts, and summaries of the essays in the monograph are also translated into the Friulian language, emphasizing the centuries-long coexistence of the Slovenian and Friulian linguistic communities along Slovenia’s western national border.
The book was published as a result of cross-border publishing collaboration between Založba ZRC and the Kappa Vu publishing house from Udine, Italy.
