The Ivan Rakovec Institute of Palaeontology is engaged in the study of the palaeontology of selected groups of organisms (diatoms, silicoflagellates, radiolarians, foraminifera, molluscs, corals, and vertebrates), sedimentary geology of the Mesozoic and Cainozoic carbonate platforms and basins, and the geobiology of Tertiary and Recent terrestrial carbonates.
